GETTING TO THE TOWN HOME FROM THE NORTH

Instructions for coming from the north are pretty easy initially. Get on I65 and head south. Honestly, this is one of the biggest reasons we bought here...because it is the closest Florida area to most of our family's living areas. From Indy to Montgomery is about 560 miles and can be done in 8 hours, depending on stops. Nashville can be very busy and hectic. Slow down and go with the flow. Birmingham isn't quite as bad but can be busy too. Montgomery, though still a heavily-populated city, isn't as bad as the other two. Oh, and I forgot, if you come straight through Louisville on I65 (instead of coming over and seeing us), the toll bridge across the Ohio River on I65 is about $4.50 now. Welcome to Kentucky. From Montgomery to our townhome gets a little bit more difficult.

Whichever way you choose to navigate to the Destin/Miramar Beach area, you will eventually have to navigate about two hours of two lane roads. From this map, you can see the Google suggested route is to go down to Exit 114 to Chapman and then drive south on 55 to Analusia, then 29 to 137 to 189 to Milligan and Crestview. Then you would take 85/293 across the toll bridge ($4 last time we took it) and come into Miramar Beach from the West. The difficult part about using this route is you do a lot of going west/going east to end up going south, there are several towns that slow you down, and, like I said, a $4 toll. Us cheap pilots do not like paying money for roads that our taxes already paid for. That and, coming into Sandestin from the West on 98 has construction and a lot of traffic.

No problem if you want to choose a different way. They all get you to the townhome eventually. Remember, HEAD SOUTH!

98 can become a parking lot real easy. Unfortunately, there isn't another way to get there. Be patient, take your time. The distance isn't that far but the reward at the end is worth it!

As you get close, there is a little strip mall on the right side that has a Ben & Jerry's and Maple Street Biscuit restaurant. Also, you will probably see the big water tower before you see anything else. Get in the left lane and turn north onto Sandestin Blvd North at the stop light. Get in the left lane and stop at the guard shack to talk to the guard. Tell him the address where you are staying (1323 Ravens Run East in the Laurel Grove Neighborhood) and your dates for visit. I will have talked with him earlier and prepared him for your arrival (hopefully). He is going to give you a piece of paper that you will show him every time you come in. He should wave you through.

After you pass through the gate, you will come to a roundabout. Go east/right off the roundabout onto Baytown Ave. You only have about a mile to go now. Another roundabout to go through, but go straight ahead in it.

Entrance Paper to get in and out.

The last subdivision before ours is Troon Dr. Watch for it. You will have Troon where you can enter and Troon coming out. Don't go there, just notice it. Because the next entrance to the left is Laurel Grove. Turn left there.

The sign at the entrance to our subdivision. Driving between the 17th and 18th holes up ahead.

Round about up ahead. Turn right onto Laurel Way and then immediately right again onto Ravens Run E. X marks the spot on this map. 1323! You're home!

You are home! Welcome to the Matthews Family Townhome "Compound". HA. Two parking spaces right in front of the house. Take one of them. Go on up to the front door. The door on the left has a combination lock. You know the combination. Use it, enter and take a load off.

Next step is setting up the townhome. Really pretty easy. Just click on this photo to go to the next webpage
