THINGS TO DO, PLACES TO GO, PEOPLE TO SEE

Click on any of the photos above to see larger photo. This place is cool because the pool/clubhouse/hot tub is only about 200 yards away! I know that will appeal to lots of folks and the facilities will be used a lot. You should already have the codes for getting in to them. If not, give me a call. We want you to use them as much as you want to. However, I'm sure that these facilities are not the only reason you came to Florida!

Now this is why you came to Florida! And, Sandestin Owners have their own access to the beach. If you leave the townhome and go back to the MAIN GATE (not the one by Applebees), exit at the gate and keep going straight at the stop light. The south half of Sandestin is just across the intersection. Show your pass to the gate guard on this side too. He will wave you through and you are on your way to the beach. Drive toward the high rise towers until you see the parking lot just before the Hilton. Park in the lot, get your beach gear and walk past the Beach House Restaurant on the right. The boardwalk and sandy beach are just beyond. Enjoy.

The beach is thata way ^

Hey, remember Florida doesn't always have great weather. They do have rain and they do have hurricanes! We were there for Hurricane Sally (love that song!). I even did this "stupid weather man report" from the beach. Click on it to enjoy. Needless to say though, if the wind is howling or the flags are all red, don't go in the water!!

The Village of Baytowne Wharf
The Village of Baytowne Wharf is a must see! This little town has too much to mention. Just google it and view alot of photos showing you everything. Lots of restaurants, shops, fun activities, and the wharf/dock to walk out on. This is right on the Sandestin Resort, so no going in or out gates. Just leave the townhome, turn right at the Laurel Grove entrance, right at the first roundabout, go north to the Village. There is a car park that is free to park in too. Park, get out and walk about to everything. There is a really good pizza place on the way to the dock/wharf. Good view of the Marina from there. It is a fun place, if not for only watching other people. It is very pretty at night too. Always active, lots going on. Enjoy!

Click on map going east
Where to eat? What to do? There are just too many options to mention them all. IF you are adept with your Iphone/Computer, just google our address like I did here and start looking and highlighting. Just to mention a few, however, going west can be troubling some times. Go back to the main gate, turn right and prepare for traffic. Not too far west, as you may have seen on your way in, they are doing construction on the road. Can be bumper-to-bumper for a long time, especially during Spring Break weeks. Just outside the main gate to the left is our favorite place for breakfast, Maple Street Biscuit Company as well as several other shops. Further west on 98, at Chik Fila, the road splits half right and left. Scenic Gulf Drive is worth a trip to drive right next to the shoreline and see lots of people, hotels and craziness. However to the right is Silver Sands Outlet, for all you Shoppers. Five Guys, Starbucks, Carrabas and WHATABURGER are here too. Lots more to the West with lots to explore. You might even try Alvin's to buy beach wear or a crazy hat.

Going east you can exit at the main gate or discover the east exit from Sandestin. You can come back in this gate too, which might save a little time. It is the third left after leaving Laurel Grove. Be ready though. Upon exiting at this gate you immediately come to a roundabout where you can line up to go out onto 98, or turn left on Grand Boulevard to drive through lots of shops, restaurants, etc. Parking is available along the way. Emerill's and Tommy Bahama's are kind of expensive. Cantina Laredo isn't too bad and of course, PF Chang's is a franchise. Oh, and Mark, there is another Starbuck's this way too. Keep going and it runs right into Publix, kind of a Kroger store, which is always great for groceries for back at the townhome. Drive about two miles down 98 going east and you come to the WalMart on the left and our second favorite place to eat breakfast or even lunch, Donut Hole. Also, the Murphy Express just a little farther is a good place to get gas.

One of our favorite things to do however, is just rest and relax. I've given you a whole lot of options but only scratched the surface. You should check out Hwy 30A just east of WalMart for an afternoon drive, or maybe Topsail Hill Preserve State Park right along that way. It has a great walk to the beach. Panama City is way on down the way farther east. West is Destin, lots more shopping and more places to eat than I can mention. If you want to get to an Air Force Base, Eglin is just across the bay, but prepare for a toll. We went all the way around the bay one day just for the drive. But, the BEACH is so close by!! We sure hope you enjoy your stay. Rest, relax, swim, be a beach bum, eat lots. So much to do. Just make sure you go home rested and relaxed.

And don't forget to enjoy those sunsets on the beach!
