GETTING TO THE TOWN HOME FROM BRANTLEY

If you are continuing on Hwy 331, you can ignore my comments about how to cut the route even shorter. Just view the following maps and stay on 331 through Opp and Florala into Defuniak Springs.

LET'S TAKE HWY 141! Brave soul that you are, once you take the Hwy141 route, you are on your way to saving some time! HA. You will cross US 84 at a stop light intersection. Continue south on 141. Don't go right to Opp or left to Elba. Continue a few more miles further and come to a stop sign where 141 ends. Get a good look at the huge chicken coops and turn right onto 189 South. Follow 189 all the way into Kinston. As you enter Kinston, you take a big right turn to enter the town. Slow down according to the speed limit signs and when you come to the intersection/stop light, turn LEFT. Head south on what is now Hwy 52. Just a few miles out of Kinston South, you will see 54 turn to the right. Don't take that but look very quickly after that for 153 South. Turn right. Remember we are going South. If you don't take 153 to the right to continue south, you will drive into Samson. Turn around and go back and turn South on Hwy 153. It really isn't that hard. It is just easy to miss 153 if you aren't looking for it. This really is the last tricky intersection before we get there. Head south and the Florida border is very close now!

A few miles from where you took 153 South, you enter the Sunshine State of Florida and the highway turns into Hwy 83. Sorry for yet another change, but this is the last one before we get into Defuniak Springs.

Welcome to Defuniak Springs. Note that if you followed 331 all the way south, it comes in from the north, turns left and then, at the stop light in the center of town, turns right to head toward the beach. If you came on our adventure via Hwy 83, you enter the town at a stop light. Turn right at the stop light, drive less than a quarter of a mile, and then turn left to head south toward the beach on US 331. Either way, we're headed to the beach baby!! There's a bunch of stores in Defuniak, including a WalMart and even a Harbor Freight. You cross I10 in a mile or so and then head south on a big four lane highway. You are now within 30 miles of the town home and approaching from the north and East.

Right before you get ready to turn right/West for the final leg to the townhome, you should cross a bridge over a big bay, Choctawhatchee Bay. (Say that three times!) Go south on 331 until you turn right onto Hwy98. 98 can become a parking lot real easy. Unfortunately, there isn't another way to get there. Be patient, take your time. The distance isn't that far now, and the reward at the end is worth it!

As you get close, there is a WalMart on the right just before you get to the Sandestin area. The right turn you take into Sandestin is now just three stop lights away. You will see the big water tower ahead and a lot of Sandestin shops on the right. Turn right at the intersection where the Applebees is. There is a roundabout just a hundred feet away, take the second exit and approach the guard shack in the left lane. Get in the left lane and stop at the guard shack to talk to the guard. Tell him the address where you are staying (1323 Ravens Run East in the Laurel Grove Neighborhood) and your dates for visit. I will have talked with him earlier and prepared him for your arrival (hopefully). He is going to give you a piece of paper that you will show him every time you come in. He should wave you through.

After you pass through the gate, you will come to a roundabout. Go east/right off the roundabout onto Baytown Ave. You only have about half a mile to go now.

Entrance Paper to get in and out.

The last subdivision before ours is Troon Dr. Watch for it. You will have two entrances to Troon on Bayside. Don't go there, just notice it. Because the next entrance to the left is Laurel Grove. Turn left there.

The sign at the entrance to our subdivision. Driving between the 17th and 18th holes up ahead.

Round about up ahead. Turn right onto Laurel Way and then immediately right again onto Ravens Run E. X marks the spot on this map. 1323! You're home!

You are home! Welcome to the Matthews Family Townhome "Compound". HA. Two parking spaces right in front of the house. Take one of them. Go on up to the front door. The door on the left has a combination lock. You know the combination. Use it, enter and take a load off.

Next step is setting up the townhome. Really pretty easy. Just click on this photo to go to the next webpage
