ECCLESIASTES 12:13 “LET US HEAR THE CONCLUSION OF THE WHOLE MATTER…”
SEVENTY FIVE VERSES! Wow! Have you really memorized 75 verses now? Just 25 verses from our goal of 100 Bible verses memorized.
In my flesh, I honestly don’t expect many to follow me to actually memorizing 100 Scriptures. I mentioned this a while back while teaching a Sunday School class on one of these topics. I was rebuffed by one lady who took the bait and said, “we will see if you are the only one!” I love that spirit.
Describing this process and my writing this way, of course, demonstrates a carnal view of what I think the Lord is trying to do with these books. It also reminds me of what I believe He said to me about it at the outset. His words were, “Be obedient. Write the books. Leave the results up to Me!” I have to admit, I’m having a hard time with that approach.
It is quite natural for all of us to want to succeed. Of course, we need to be careful about what measure we use to evaluate success. My brother Dan, trying to be encouraging of course, bought the first book I ever sold, knowing it would some day sell thousands and he would own the very first one. The Lord tells me He doesn’t measure by the standard of number of books sold.
I hope you will be inspired by these books to join the very worthy challenge of memorizing 100 verses of God’s word in your mind and heart. That is, very honestly, between you and the Lord. I will write the books.
I hope we are also providing valuable Bible studies in these chapters for Sunday School classes and Bible Study groups. I have to admit, I haven’t sold a lot of books for that purpose to many churches. Again, however, He will determine if He uses it that way and I will…write the books.
Please excuse the confession of my feelings of vulnerability here. If you know me, I know you understand. Despite my thoughts, I am not discouraged. Watch closely for the fourth (and final?) book, Hide the Word IV.
In the mean time, I know that if you’ve gotten this far, you know the Lord personally and will allow Him to use these books in your life exactly as He has planned. With that, I will be thrilled. I will write and publish the books. I hope you find them enjoyable and useful in your daily walk with Him.
With three laps of the four-lap mile race done, I have to say, “press on to lap four!” With the finish line in sight, I encourage those who have 75 verses memorized now to join me to make it 100! Those who have found the Bible studies to be useful, we will have another 25 on your way soon.
