JOINT BOARD AND MEMBERSHIP BUSINESS MEETING

Those present: Chairman Rev John Wongler, Vice Chairman Rev Steve Owens, Secretary Rev David Matthews, Treasurer Rev Kevin Horath, Rev Phil Frye, Rev Keenan Smith, Rev Joshua Powell, Emeritus Member Rev Jim Wilson, Rev Tom Sullivan, Rev Caleb Holbrook, Rev Rhonda Powell, Rev Jerrod Herald Attending via Zoom: Rev Don Horath.

Chairman Wongler called the meeting to order and led in prayer. He thanked Rev Smith and Josh and Rhonda Powell and Sister Jenny Wongler for their outstanding leadership in two weeks of great youth camp programs.

Secretary Matthews was asked to read the minutes from the March 31, 2023 Board and Membership Meetings held at Hatfield Bethel Church. Rev Josh Powell moved that the minutes be accepted as written. Rev Frye seconded the motion and all approved.

Newly appointed Missions Secretary Matthews was asked to present the Missions report. He stated that $2800 was given and distributed to our missionaries this quarter which included fourteen ministries. He shared his vision for BMA missions and encouraged everyone to participate and for our individual churches who contribute independently to share their supported ministries with the other churches. Rev Owens moved that the report be accepted. Rev Frye seconded the motion and all approved.

Treasurer Horath was asked to review the financial report to date for 2023. Revenue for the year is $44,021and expenditures to date are $21,127. The balance at the end of the quarter was $22,894. Of note is $5,236 spent on Junior Camp, $3600 in BMA contributions, $2947 in annual membership dues and $4410 in contributions toward BYC. Rev Frye moved that the report be accepted, Rev Powell seconded the motion and all approved.

Chairman Wongler briefed the membership that because Victory Christian Center will not be finished with construction on their church, they will not be able to host the Fall Conference. Rev Kevin Horath was asked if Hillside would consider hosting. After camp, he checked with his membership and announced that they would host the Fall Conference at Hillside Bethel Ministries in Decatur, IL, October 2-4, 2023 with a special Youth Event Wednesday, Oct 4 at 7pm. The theme for the conference is “Chosen Generation.”

Chairman Wongler asked if all would be willing to continue leadership at next year’s camps the same as this year. Rev Smith stated that he would need to confer with leadership before committing. Rev Wongler mentioned that he and Sister Wongler would be happy to continue next year for Junior Camp.
ACTION ITEM: Rev Smith will report to the membership regarding leading Senior Camp next year at the Fall BMA Conference in October.

Chairman Wongler reminded everyone of the contribution from a business person toward Youth Camp repairs. He stated that we were within $15,000 of reaching our goal of $50,000 to be matched by the donor’s $100,000. He also presented the initial donation from this individual for $50,000 in the Wednesday night service at camp. Pledges and the Wednesday evening offering came to $11,050. He said that initial work on camp with the giving would include new roofs on the tabernacle and Dorms 1-7 and remodel of the All Weather Dorm.

Rev Kevin Horath and Rev Josh Powell briefed the membership on progress on the new media platform, Subsplash, for the BMA. All campers and members were asked to download the BMA App and begin using it. Regular updates will occur and all services during camps were live streamed and made available on the App.

No further business coming before the membership, Rev Frye moved that the meeting be adjourned. Rev Owens seconded the motion and all approved.
