BETHEL MINISTERIAL ASSOCIATION - BOARD MEETING
ZOOM Conference Meeting
April 1, 2020
Those present: Chairman Rev Steve Owens, Vice Chairman Rev John Wongler, Secretary Rev David Matthews, Treasurer Rev Phil Frye, Rev Don Horath, Rev Joe Greene, Rev Keenan Smith, Rev Josh Powell, Members Emeritus Rev Don Matthews and Rev James Wilson and Provisional Member Rev Jerry VanRonk.
Chairman Rev Steve Owens called the meeting to order and welcomed everyone to this new format. He led a brief discussion about the current restrictions due to the Corona Virus throughout our nation. Everyone agreed that it would be best to cancel the April Spring Conference to be held April 22-25 at the Youth Camp and Conference Center. Secretary Matthews will inform everyone about the cancellation.
Treasurer Rev Phil Frye briefed everyone on the current state of finances and asked for a resolution that we hold off making the agreed purchases (All Weather Dorm roof and new tractor) until further notice. All agreed to this resolution. He also briefed the board on higher than normal utility bills lately because at least one of the meters was not read in 2019 and the utilities were catching up.
Because of higher utility bills and the unknown nature of planning around the virus restrictions, it was recommended that we look into details for obtaining some of the government funding available for small businesses loans. Pastor Keenan Smith was asked to coordinate with his daughter Tiffany, since she has experience applying for government grants. She will coordinate with Secretary Matthews on details about our 501c3 numbers and other identification to see what kind of grants might be possible.
Considerable discussion was held about how the virus restrictions might impact our summer camp programs. Everyone agreed that we might know more in a few weeks and would be better to make a more knowledgeable decision about them by April 23rd, when we had originally planned on having our next board meeting. It was agreed that we would meet again via Zoom Teleconference at 10am(central)/11am(eastern) April 23, 2020.
No further business coming before the board, Rev Don Matthews recommended that we have a time of prayer together and he was asked to lead that prayer. Appreciation was expressed to everyone for participating and making the teleconference so successful. Meeting was adjourned.
