Rev Frye seconded the motion and all approved the minutes.

Treasurer Rev Phil Frye was asked to review the financial report for 2018. The balance at the start of the year was $1,671. Total income for the year was $46,076 and expenses were $41,139 leaving a balance of $6,608. $5859 was spent during Junior Conference and $8,477 was spent during Senior Youth Conference. Foreign Missions Secretary Joe Greene presented the Missions report for the year. He reported that giving to missions for the year was $28,166, down from last year’s giving of $45,672. He also read email correspondence from Rev Don Matthews to native missionary to Nigeria, Rev A.M. Sambo. Rev Frye moved that the missions report be accepted. Rev Matthews seconded the motion and all approved.

Rev Matthews briefed all board members on updates to the BMA website and its secure section that includes updated rosters and other administrative items. He shared with all members the existing user name and password needed to access this portion of the website. He also submitted the report from Bethel Publishing House. He reported that the balance of accounts at the end of the year was $102. Everyone was encouraged to use BPH to purchase their Sunday School literature. Rev Owens moved that the report be accepted. Rev Wongler seconded the motion and all approved.

Chairman Horath repeated a previous request for one of our member churches to host the Spring Conference. He also read an email suggestion that had been submitted by Emeritus Board Member Rev Don Matthews which suggested that we have this year’s Spring Conference at Bethel Conference Center. After lengthy discussion, Rev Wongler volunteered to lead Spring Conference at the Conference Center and recommended a date of May 1-3, with work days on May 3 and 4 in preparation for this year’s youth conferences. Rev Matthews agreed to help Rev Wongler with preparation of the conference, details of the agenda and preparations for meals. Rev Wongler suggested that the theme of the conference would be “Remembering the Remnant.”
Action: Rev Wongler will plan and coordinate details for the Spring BMA Conference at Bethel Conference Center. Rev Matthews will provide assistance. Details will be provided to all members soon.

Rev Horath led discussion about ideas and possible details for planning the annual business meeting and fall conference in October. Rev Wongler suggested we might consider meeting again at Rough River State Park and mentioned a possible alternative of New Harmony Inn in New Harmony, Indiana. Some suggested dates include September 23-25 and October 13-15. Rev Wongler made some phone calls for possible availability and details. Rev Van Ronk volunteered to fund costs for a meeting room at one of these locations. More details will be provided on planning at the Spring Conference.
Action: Rev Wongler will continue his research into possible Fall Conference locations and dates to report back to the board at the Spring Conference in May.

No further business coming before the board, Rev Owens moved that we adjourn this portion of the meeting to have dinner together before the evening service and the start of the general membership meeting. Motion was seconded by Rev Greene and all approved. Chairman Horath temporarily dismissed this meeting with intentions to reconvene the board meeting following the evening’s praise and worship session.
