A Split-S is just the second half of the loop we stopped at the top of the Immelmann.
Starting at low speed and higher altitude, we roll 180 degrees to upside down, then pull through the verticle to straight up again!
Imagine "trolling along" looking for bad guys up high. You suddenly see one below you, roll inverted and "go get him!!" That's a Split-S.
